During our recent Provincial Chapter, the following Sisters were elected to the Leadership Team: Sister Carol Thresher, SDS, Provincial Leader; Sister Patrice Colletti, SDS, Vicaress and Team Member; and Sister Ellen Sinclair, SDS, Team Member. The Sisters will take office on June 25.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held at St. Anne's Salvatorian Campus, 3800 N. 92nd Street, Milwaukee. A new assisted living facility is planned for the north side of the campus which will include private studio apartments; and distinct households for residents with functional deficits and/or memory care needs. Forty-one  Divine Savior Holy Angels seniors were presented with the Salvatorian Service Award for outstanding service to others. This is the 20th year that the Sisters have presented this award.

We thank the Catholic Campus Ministry at the Florida Institute of Technology. They recently sponsored the first annual dinner benefiting our mission work in Congo, Africa. This event, Carrying in the Congo, was designed and planned by the students. Their work is appreciated and a sign of hope in our world.

Members of the Salvatorian Family (Sisters, Brothers and Priests, and Lay Salvatorians) gathered at the Sisters' Community House on Saturday, December 8, for a celebration of our Foundation Day. There will be a time of sharing, a liturgy during which our commitment and vows will be renewed, and a celebration dinner.

St. Anne's Salvatorian Campus hosted a record number of guests at its annual My Heart is Here Auction on November 3. We honored Gary Messing, the St. Anne's Laundry Department Volunteers and outstanding employees were also recognized. The Salvatorian Leadership Group held  a benefit for the Jordan Ministry Team of Tucson, Arizona. A Mass of gratitude was offered followed by a simple reception and entertainment. The Sisters of the Divine Savior have been awarded a Best Practices honor for the Salvatorian Service Award by the National Communicators Network of Women Religious. The Salvatorian Service Award is given annually to Divine Savior Holy Angels High School seniors for extraordinary service.  The Award was initiated in 1988 during the Sisters' Centennial Celebration. We thank the NCNWR and the DSHA students who live the gospel by caring for others.

Ethel M. Gintoft, a member of the Catholic Knights, was featured in the latest member magazine. Ethel received the 2005 Woman of Faith Award from the Sisters of the Divine Savior. Part of The Today Show was broadcast from the Divine Savior Holy Angels Campus on Wednesday, March 1st. Ann Curry reported on the "Locks of Love" Assembly. 

Looking Forward with Hope was the theme of the 22nd Provincial Chapter of the Sisters of the Divine Savior. The Chapter was held at the Sisters' Community House, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A Chapter is a national gathering of Sisters in which we make important decisions for our life together and into the future.  The Sisters elected the following Leadership Team: Provincial Sister Marion Etzel, Vicaress Sister Carol Thresher, and Team Member Sister Mary Lee Grady. Volunteers from Marquette University's Sigma Chi Fraternity helped with fall garden and grounds preparation for the winter at Hadley Terrace Senior Apartments. They turned the garden, weeded, pruned, and made our grounds look spectacular. We thank these Marquette men for helping our residents have lovely surroundings. View Photos

Sisters Marion Etzel and Carol Thresher were interviewed by Milwaukee's Channel 12 reporter Kent Wainscott about our Sisters in Sri Lanka and our relief fund. The interview aired on the 6 pm newscast on Friday, January 7th.

Sisters Elaine Czarnezki and Karlyn Cauley were interviewed by Sam Lucero of the Milwaukee Catholic Herald for the January 6th edition. The article's focus was on the Tsunami tragedy.

Congratulations to Sister Carol Thresher, SDS, who was elected Recording Secretary for Region 9 Leadership Conference of Women Religious.

Congratulations to Sister Barbara Reynolds, SDS, who received the Educator of the Year Award at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee on April 23. The award is given by Cardinal Stritch University students to express appreciation for exemplary teaching, commitment to excellence and deep concern for students. In addition to this, Sister Barbara has also received word that her short article on the Abacus will be published in The Encyclopaedia of the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine in Non-Western Cultures.

Welcome to Sister Maria Trojestina Abela, SDS, who is visiting from Tanzania, Africa. She will be living with the Sisters at New Bethany Community in Milwaukee and visiting Salvatorian places in the Midwest.

Congratulations to Sister Barbara Reynolds, SDS, for the publication of her new college geometry text book College Geomettry Using The Geometer's Sketchpad, Preliminary Edition  which she co-authored with colleague William Fenton. Sister Barbara is a professor at Cardinal Stritch University , Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Salvatorian Sisters Marcella and Alice Gindt, SDS, were honored for their volunteer hours by RSVP. The latter is the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program of Milwaukee County. The Sisters visit residents, work in the laundry, and the beauty shop. We thank them for their extraordinary caring at the St. Anne's Salvatorian Campus.

Congratulations to Sister Barbara Reynolds, SDS. Sister Barbara received the Cardinal Stritch University (CSU) faculty award for peacemaking on campus and in the school community. 

Sister Patrice Colletti, SDS, is a  member of the first class to complete the Graduate Certificate in the Nonprofit Management program at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Congratulations, Sister Patrice!

Sister Francine Kosednar, SDS, recently received the Vision Award for Outstanding Care for Patients at Aspirus-Wausau Hospital, Wisconsin. As a member of this very special healthcare system, she is asked to be advocate for patients and their families. 

Sisters Charitas Elverman and Maryann Engelhardt attended the 50th anniversary of Saint Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Sister Jane Eschweiler, SDS, Father Mike Kendall, SDS,  and other members of the Jordan Ministry Team were honored by the Diocese of Tucson's Departments of Catechesis, Formation and Catholic Schools. 

Sister Mary Ruth Dittman, SDS,  has received an award for her six-year volunteer efforts.

Congratulations to Sister Barbara Reynolds, SDS, who has been nominated by her colleagues at Cardinal Stritch University for the Stritch Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award.

Sister Therezinha Joana Rasera, SDS, elected to international post

Noted papercutter and artist Sister Clarice Steinfeldt, SDS, placed second in a Valentine Card competition at Artist and Display, Milwaukee.

Nationally recognized artist and papercutter Sister Clarice Steinfeldt, SDS, was  interviewed May 4th on 90.7 FM. The Wisconsin Public Broadcasting Program was at 7:35 to 8:00 pm.

Golden Jubilarian, Sister Florence Demers, SDS, was featured in the Putnam Villager and the Putnam Town Crier, both in Connecticut. We thank the editors.

Volunteering Changes Lives, an article by Sister Patrice Colletti, SDS, appears in the July edition of the Senior Connection Newspaper, Wisconsin Edition.

Saint Pius X Pastor Father Bob Marsicek, SDS, featured golden jubilarians Sisters Rita Barman and Virginia Honish in the June 24, 2007, parish bulletin and Sister Kathy Dooley in the July 1 parish bulletin for her fortieth. The Sisters are all members of Saint Pius X, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.

On June 15, 2007, the Portage Daily Register featured Sister Kathleen Dooley's 40th Jubilee.

Sister Jenada Fanetti, SDS, coordinated a First Communion retreat. We thank the Catholic Herald and Sam Lucero for the coverage in the April 12th, 2007 edition.

On Sunday, April 22, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel writer, Felicia Thomas-Lynn focused on the Agape Community Center in her "Faces of Hope." Sister Patrice Colletti, SDS, is the executive director of the center.

The Milwaukee Catholic Herald featured Salvatorians Father Joe Rodrigues and Sister Jane Eschweiler in a November 2006 edition. They are members of the Jordan Ministry Team in Tucson, Arizona.

Golden Jubilarian Sister Pat Kieler, SDS, was featured in the July 28th edition of The Compass newspaper, Diocese of Green Bay. We would like to thank associate editor Pat Kasten and the editorial staff.

The Divine Savior Holy Angels Word Magazine, summer edition, featured the late Sister Margaret Shekleton, SDS, and was the first principal on the school's present campus. Editor Toni Letizia also featured DSHA seniors who received the Salvatorian Service award.

We would like to thank The Compass, the newspaper of the Green Bay Diocese, the Jubilarian section included a feature story about Sister Dora Zapf, SDS. Sister Dora celebrated  her 50th Jubilee of religious profession. We especially appreciate the work of assistant editor, Patricia Kasten, writer, Joanne Flemming, and photographer Rick Evans. Then the story was published by the Catholic News Service. We are grateful to the CNS editors and writer Joanne Flemming for this inspiring story.

Sister Karlyn Cauley, SDS and two Divine Savior Holy Angels seniors were featured in the Milwaukee Catholic Herald May 19, 2005 Edition. The Salvatorian Sisters honored 43 seniors for outstanding volunteer service

Sister Clarice Steinfeldt, SDS, was  featured in the June 10, 2004 edition of the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune for her display of papercuttings for the Guild of American Papercutters show at McMillan Memorial Library. Sister Charitas Elverman, SDS, Milwaukee, Wisconsin was featured in Dialogue, a publication of the Foundation for Religious Retirement. From 1995 through 2003, she ministered as a member of the St. Anne's Salvatorian Campus. This year she is volunteering at St. Anne's, The SDS Community House, and at St. Rose Parish food and clothing pantry.
