Sisters of the Divine Savior in Ministry
Throughout the United States and worldwide, Sisters of
the Divine Savior respond to the timeless call to
serve the people of God in the name of Jesus
Christ. Walking with the young and old, the vulnerable
and fragile, we make known the goodness and
kindness of a loving God in a myriad of settings including
schools, hospitals, skilled care residences, and
shelters of all kinds.
Our ministry embraces people in whatever place and by whatever means the Spirit of God inspires.
We have been called to this work. More

Sister
Marion Etzel, SDS
Formerly an associate
professor at the School of Music of Georgia State
University in Atlanta and at Roosevelt University in
Chicago, Sister Marion Etzel believes with all her heart
in the sacredness and power of the classroom.
"I love education because it is a journey of the mind for
students and teachers. I also love education because along
the way, I meet so many people who also cherish learning
as much as I do, and who have dedicated their lives to a
pursuit of truth.
The classroom is like an emergency room..." |

"God has put into my life people who
have challenged me, believed in me, called me out of
myself and shown me who God is. I believe that my
vocation is a love story. It is a story of growing each
day in what it means to return with love and joy, the
gift of my life to God who has blessed me so generously." |

Sister Mary
Ruth Dittman, SDS, Nursery Volunteer - Children’s
Hospital, Phoenix
Working with babies and children has been Sister Mary Ruth's lifelong personal ministry.
She has also attended funerals for hundreds of babies,
providing sympathy, prayers, and words of comfort to bereaved families. “These
ministries fill my life. God has been so good to me.” |
|
Sister Kathleen Dooley, SDS,
Provincial Office Volunteer and Spiritual Mentor
Reflecting on her initial call to be a Salvatorian
Sister: "The simplicity, warmth, openness and
friendliness of the Sisters during those early visits
led me to believe this could be where God wanted me to
be. I am so happy I responded to the call to religious
life and community. A whole new world of opportunity for
spiritual growth and service opened up." |
|
|
Sister
Maryann Engelhardt, SDS, Nurse
"I try to bring life and hope to people who are having
different life challenges. We are trying to enhance the
healing process by including and recognizing that balance
of body, mind and spirit is essential." |
 |
Sister Jane
Eschweiler, SDS,
Jordan Ministry Team Director
"My vocation as a woman religious has been a life of
faith and meaning, purpose and love. The vows are more
relevant than ever as a witness of alternative values in
our world that tends toward greed and violence. We do
much more as a group, and with other religious
and lay women and men, than we could alone--especially
in the areas of justice and peace." |
 |
Sister Jenada
Fanetti, SDS,
Director of Religious Education
"My journey in religious life has led me to paths I could never have
dreamed. Being part of an international congregation has
expanded my vision, provided encouragement, support and
called me to use my gifts and talents in remarkable
ways. My heart is filled with deep gratitude for God’s
faithfulness and the abundant blessings I have
experienced." |
 |
Sister Mary Frost, SDS
"I firmly believe that not only does God know us better
than we know ourselves, but God loves us more than we
can love ourselves. If we trust ourselves to Divine
Providence, God has great things in store for us. St.
Therese of Liseux said,’My
vocation is to love!’ Religious life provides the
opportunity for a person to love many people in many
ways." |
 |
Sister Diane
Goetzinger, SDS,
Homebound Minister - Mother of Good Counsel Parish,
Milwaukee and Volunteer receptionist - N American
Province Headquarters
Sister Diane recalls wanting to be a Sister as a
small child. “I have loved every ministry and would do
it again. I have been able to have God as the center of
my life. As Sisters, we pray, encourage and support one
another as we try to make a positive difference in the
lives of others.” |
 |
Sister
Jean Marie Hauck, SDS,
Educator and volunteer
“For me, my
religious vocation has been a rewarding and fulfilling
life.”
Sister Jean Marie ministered as an art teacher at Holy
Family School in Huntsville, Ala., from 1989 to 1996,
and for many years made the bulletin boards and did
other art projects for the parish. Today she works with
a group making sleeping bags for the homeless. In
addition, she is an extraordinary minister of Holy
Communion. |

Sister Beverly
Heitke, SDS ,
N. American Province Co-coordinator of Sponsorship
Having served as a nurse, dentist, administrator, North
American provincial leader, and international
congregational leader, Sister Beverly reflects on her
invitation to global leadership: "It opened my world to
all the cultures of the Salvatorian world. I worked with
our Polish Sisters as the Communist Block crumbled and
saw the Berlin Wall come down. I worked in Brazil,
Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa and
experienced the many layers of conflicts and challenges
in those regions. Working with our Sisters and others
throughout the world gave me a marvelous chance to
appreciate other cultures and views." |
