Sister Marcella Gindt, SDS Marks Her
60th Jubilee

Sister Marcella Gindt, SDS, celebrated her 60th Jubilee of religious profession on
Saturday, June 28. Harvest of Service—Others Will Follow
is the theme of this year’s Mass and reception honoring
Salvatorian Sisters and Priests. The Mass was offered at Mother of Good Counsel Parish, Milwaukee. A
reception for family and friends followed.
As a Sister of the Divine Savior, Sister Marcella
ministered as an elementary school teacher in Wisconsin
and Minnesota. Then she earned a Medical Secretarial
Degree and worked at Aurora Health Care Hospitals in
Milwaukee. Later she served the retired Salvatorian
Sisters at St. Mary’s Nursing Home, Milwaukee. At St.
Mary’s, she also started a gift shop as a volunteer.
Today she lives at the Salvatorian Sisters Residence,
Milwaukee, and volunteers at the adjacent St. Anne’s
Salvatorian Campus. “I try to be a gentle presence to
our residents so that they remember that God loves them
as they are. I also make greeting cards available to our
residents and staff,” she said. All of the retired
Sisters participate in the Apostolate of Prayer for the
intentions of friends.
Sister Marcella has two other sisters who are
Salvatorian Sisters, Sisters Beatrice and Alice. They
are Boyd/Edson natives and were members of Sacred Heart
Parish, Edson. Sister Marcella was born the third of
thirteen children of the late Agnes and Joseph Gindt.
“As a family, we had many good times and could field our
own ball team. Our parents played with us. As a vowed
woman religious, I have liked every ministry and
experienced many changes in the Church, religious life
and the world and always tried to grow and change
gracefully,” she explained.
