“Joyful Thanks” is the theme of this year’s
Jubilee celebration of the Sisters of the Divine Savior. A Mass
of Thanksgiving will be offered at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart
School of Theology Chapel, Hales Corners, Wisconsin, followed by
a dinner reception for family ad friends in the Seminary Dining
Room. Celebrating 60 years of religious profession are: Sisters
Maria Elena Arias, Jean Marie Hauck, Teresa Rebholz and Patricia
Wieloch.
Sister Jean Marie Hauck, SDS, ministered
as an art teacher at Holy Family School in Huntsville, Alabama,
from 1989 to 1996.. For many years she made the bulletin boards
and did other art projects for the parish. Previously, she
worked as a parish minister in Brookhaven, Mississippi. From
1950 to 1986, she taught elementary grades in Wisconsin,
Maryland, Minnesota and Alabama.
Sister Jean Marie was born in Aberdeen,
South Dakota, to Anna and Adam Hauck. She received a Bachelor of
Arts degree from Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Today Sister Jean Marie is retired. One
day a week she works with a group making sleeping bags for the
homeless. In addition, she is an extraordinary minister of Holy
Communion. She is also a great lover of nature and has spent
vacation time over the years visiting our National Parks.
Her favorite leisure activity is reading
and she also likes to garden. She is an enthusiastic
photographer, an amateur woodcarver and works on three
collections.
“For me, my religious vocation has been a
rewarding and fulfilling life,” she said |
