Sister Rosa Yepes, SDS, marked her 60th Jubilee of religious profession on Friday, September, 10, at St. Anne’s Salvatorian Campus, 3800 N. 92 Street, Milwaukee. A Mass of thanksgiving was offered at 1:30 p.m. followed by a reception at the Salvatorian Sisters Residence.

Sister Rosa was born in San Pedro, Colombia. She made her First Vows in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1950. Over the years, Sister Rosa’s ministries included: practical nursing, child care and teaching.

One of her last ministries was Director of Religious Education at St. Hyacinth Parish in Milwaukee. Her bilingual skills were crucial as she communicated with teachers, students and parents. Sister Rosa understood what it meant to come to a new land and deal with the varied cultural challenges. At the time she said, I think of myself primarily as a Salvatorian—free to be what I am and to feel appreciated for my Colombian heritage. And I appreciate my Salvatorian community for letting me do this ministry with the Hispanic people who are so dear to me.”
