SDS to Honor Thirty DSHA
Seniors
This May, thirty seniors at Divine Savior Holy Angels High
School, Milwaukee, will receive the Salvatorian Service Award.
The Salvatorian Service Award was initiated in 1988 as part of
the Sisters of the Divine Savior (SDS) centennial celebration.
The award is given to DSHA seniors who have given service to
others on an extraordinary level. It is a senior award of
excellence that is born of values for education that signal
compassionate love in the lives of these young leaders.
The recipients have made their communities and the world
better places. They have touched the lives of children, the
aging, varied cultures and agree that service has become a way
of life for them. They also agree that their service experiences
have profoundly impacted them Within their parishes, DSHA and
faith communities, from food pantries and shelters to El
Salvador, Ecuador and Nicaragua to Appalachia, South Dakota and
Kentucky they have given their hearts and hands to reach out to
the vulnerable. We thank them and feel inspired by them
One recipient said, “The different service sites give me a
chance to see God in many different ways and connect with many
different ethnic, social, economic and age groups. These
experiences have changed me as a person and made me realize the
true importance in life which is to serve God through others. I
hope to continue my service throughout college and my life. It
is a part of me and always will be”
One parent echoed many others. “We are very proud of the
young woman our daughter has become. She reflects the qualities
of a DSHA graduate, a confident and capable young woman who is a
believer committed to her community and to leadership and
service.”
Sister Carol Thresher, SDS, Provincial leader of the
Salvatorian Sisters said,
The Sisters of the Divine Savior are honored to present the
Salvatorian Service Award to these outstanding young women from
the 2010 class of Divine Savior Holy Angels High School.” In her
