Anti-Human Trafficking Bill Signed
Wisconsin
Governor James Doyle signed an anti-human trafficking bill on
Wednesday, March 19, 2008, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Sister
Barbara Reynolds, SDS, right, congratulated the Governor.
The new law criminalizes human trafficking and slavery under
Wisconsin state law. It also holds Wisconsin businesses that
profit from trafficking liable. The law was written by a group
of citizens working closely with Representatives and Senators
from both parties. The bill passed unanimously in the Senate and
Assembly before coming to Governor Doyle for signature.
