2022 Birthday Perspective: Sister Jane Barman, SDS
By Sister Jane Barman, SDS

For their birthdays, we asked Salvatorian Sisters to recommend a piece of media (book, poem, movie, etc.) that changed their perspective.

Sister Jane Barman, SDS recommends Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, the book we read for our ‘Turn the Page’ discussion for 2020 Catholic Sisters Week.
“When I read the book, Just Mercy, it changed my thinking on our prison and justice system. I believe there are many people in prison that are innocent. Some are in for life and who can speak for them? Another point is, I think money talks when it comes to who should go to prison. What can an elderly person like me do about it? All I can think of is to pray and contact our Senators and Representatives when the occasion arrives.”
