2022 Birthday Perspective: Sister Mary Lee Grady, SDS

By Sister Mary Lee Grady, SDS
Milwaukee, Wisconsin

For their birthdays, we asked Salvatorian Sisters to recommend a piece of media (book, poem, movie, etc.) that changed their perspective.

Sister Mary Lee Grady, SDS reflects on The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and an quote that’s resonated with her since childhood.

My favorite book is The Little Prince because although it’s considered children’s book, it is a book of great depth when read from the perspective of an adult. The line “It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important” is indeed powerful. We never know what the “wasted time” can mean for another person.  It is not really time wasted, but time given in love to support and be with  another person.
