Reine Assana

Reine Assana was selected as the 2025 Woman of Faith due to her extraordinary commitment to faith, service, and community. Originally from Ziguinchor, Senegal, and now a resident of Milwaukee, Reine embodies the transformative power of faith through her tireless efforts to uplift those around her. Her poignant experience witnessing worshippers gathering outdoors in her hometown ignited her determination to complete the church that honors her parents’ legacy of love and service.

With a strong educational background, including a master’s degree in communication and a master’s in theological studies, Reine leverages her knowledge to foster understanding between African American Catholics and the broader community. Serving as the public relations assistant for the National Association of African Catholics in the US, she acts as a crucial liaison for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops on migrant pastoral care.

Reine’s leadership in initiatives, such as the Lenten Day of Reflection and the Milwaukee African Women’s Association, highlights her dedication to inclusivity and cultural appreciation. Additionally, her organization of the 2024 African Cultural Festival demonstrates her commitment to celebrating heritage while addressing educational needs for refugee families in Milwaukee.
