Catholic Sisters Week: Boundless Love
by Patrick Dawson
I’ve been a Divine Savior Holy Angel High School (DSHA) teacher since 1991. Recently, I was reminded of the beautiful friendship between Sister Mary Lee Grady, SDS and School Sister of Notre Dame Teresa Mahoney, both former teachers at DSHA. It was wonderful for our students and the faculty to witness a joyful and supportive friendship that transcended different religious orders. One funny memory I have of their fun-loving friendship happened at a YMCA pool on a Friday afternoon many years ago. As I walked out of the locker room clad in only my bathing suit, I heard “Patrick,” and sure enough there were both sisters hanging out in the pool. This made for a bit of an awkward conversation, and when they noted that they often swam at that exact time I decided to choose a different time in future weeks to save us all from more awkward bathing suit encounters! But it was a good illustration of how much fun they had together, which always brought joy to others like me.
Let’s show the Salvatorian Sisters we call our friends, family, and mentors, our love and appreciation during Catholic Sisters Week.
This Catholic Sister Week, March 8-14, take time to express your gratitude for the living Salvatorian Sisters who have positively impacted your life. All messages, reflections, and photos will be shared with the Sisters and have the potential of being shared on our website & social media during Catholic Sisters Week.
