Compassion Goes a Long Way
Sister Jenada Fanetti, SDS will be honored with the Milwaukee Archbishop’s Vatican II Award for Service to the Church on September 23. The annual award recognizes individuals who contribute to the vitality of the local Church through their service to others. Sr. Jenada has been a member of the Sisters of the Divine Savior Congregation for 56 years, and has served 15 years at St. Isidore Parish in Mt. Calvary, Wis. She previously served as director of religious education at St. Isidore, and now, as pastoral care minister she reaches out to the poor, sick, elderly and homebound members of her parish. She enjoys cooking and sharing a meal with them and asking them to help her crochet prayer shawls for those who are near death. Many St. Isidore families have expressed their gratitude for Sr. Jenada’s compassionate outreach in their times of need. Witnessing her devotion, St. Isidore Pastor, Fr. Gary Wegner nominated her for the award. In sharing with parishioners about her award, Fr. Gary wrote, “At the heart of Sr. Jenada’s ministry is her deep faith in Jesus, her willingness to listen attentively to others, and her commitment to pray with those she visits.”
