Folk artist turned folklorist
July 23, 2015
In recent months, Sr. Karlyn Cauley has broadened her ministry beyond her well known work as a folk artist of “Shaker Gift Drawings” for her original watercolors, prints and note cards. Sr. Karlyn has taken on the role of “folklorist,” interviewing our Salvatorian Sisters no longer in active ministry, and sharing their memories from before and during their lives as vowed women religious. Sr. Karlyn’s gift with words helps bring their memories to life as if they just happened yesterday. Check our Home page often to find links to Sr. Karlyn’s latest blog entry under the heading Folk Artist. Today, she shares excerpts from letters Sr. Rachel Wallace has kept close to her heart for more than 60 years.
