Historic Website Preserves Salvatorian Landmark
September 23, 2014
Built in 1900 at the corner of W. Center and 35th Streets, St. Mary’s Convent holds a special place in the history of Milwaukee and the hearts of Salvatorian Sisters. Over the years, the convent served as home to the Sisters of the Divine Savior, as well as a nursing home, school, and rehab clinic. Although the landmark couldn’t be saved, the Historic Preservation Committee for the City of Milwaukee has launched a website dedicated to “preserving” our Salvatorian Sisters’ former motherhouse. Our North American Province collaborated with the City of Milwaukee to provide vintage photos and a timeline of rich history that can now be viewed online.
