National Catholic Sisters Week: Reach out through Simple Gifts

As we celebrate 2017 National Catholic Sisters’ Week (NCSW), we also invite Milwaukee-area friends to join in our Simple Gifts Collection again this year.

NCSW lifts up the vital contributions of Catholic Sisters to the history of our nation. Closer to home, our Simple Gifts Collection lifts up our sponsored ministry, Hadley Terrace Senior Apartments. Hadley Terrace offers safe and affordable independent living for low-income elders in Milwaukee’s central city.

The goal of this outreach project is simple: collect 60 plastic grocery bags, each containing 3 items from the list shown below. Hadley services coordinator Liz Luciano has identified these items as the residents’ greatest needs. All items are essential for daily living but do not qualify for purchase with residents’ food vouchers.

How to donate:
Buy 3 out of the 5 items listed below and place in a standard-size plastic grocery bag. Please note: All items should be full size, unused and sealed.

  • 4-pack toilet paper
  • roll of paper towels
  • all-purpose spray cleaner
  • 2-pack of sponges
  • liquid laundry detergent

Each bag is a gift – simple as it may be – and will include a tag with a heartfelt message. Bags will be distributed to all 60 apartment units at Hadley Terrace.

Bring along your Simple Gifts bag when you join us for our Lenten Vespers on Monday, March 20 or Thursday, April 6. You can also drop off at the Community House Monday-Friday between 9 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Final day to donate is Friday, April 7. For more information, email missionadvancement@salvatoriansisters.org or call 414-466-7414.

Thank you for sharing in this outreach to vulnerable people in the Milwaukee community.
