Sister Nelda Hernandez’s Birthday Reflection

In celebration of our sisters’ birthdays in 2023, we asked them to share an age they would like to go “back” to. On her birthday, Sister Nelda explains why she’s grateful for the age she is now.

Oh, dear! It’s really hard to choose just one age. There are ages that are a delight to remember, like the lovely summer days and evenings of carefree living in a very small town at the age of 5 or 6. There are ages of pivotal decisions about which I occasionally ponder – for example, would the 17-year-old me have become an architect of note (or even just a fairly good one)? But in the end, I think I would choose the age I am now, filled with wonderful memories of good times, reassuring memories of challenges met and overcome, and the promise of more things to learn, to do, to enjoy – and for which to be ever grateful.
